Follow Jesus,
And Change The World!

The Establishment of Alliance Baptist Church is one of Great Joy! Although we have had our trials, we have overcome them by the Blood of the Lamb and the Word of our testimony (Revelation 12:11). Alliance Baptist Church (Formerly Ambassadors of Christ) began as a seed that grew in the heart of one man who desired to see a Church that was for everyone. Having our roots in the Baptist Church, we found that being part of the Southern Baptist Convention would not be feasible to meet our purpose. Therefore we ventured into God's Word, the Bible, and did our best to learn what it meant to be the Church. In 2009 we felt God's leading to join with our Sisters and Brothers of the movement know as Alliance of Baptists; A Movement of Baptists seeking to respond to the continuing call of God in a rapidly changing world.
In our study of what it means to be the Church, we found the following points to be important:
- To live God's Love and Compassion as completely as possible;
- To live as a Community of Jesus Christ in our neighborhood and city;
- To become an anti-racist, pro-reconciling congregation, bringing together God's people of different races and cultures;
- To live as an "Welcoming and Affirming Congregation," creating a community that fully includes Gay and Lesbian Christians;
- To reach out to each other in care and support in the face of illness, grief, and pain;
- To enjoy and celebrate life in Christ together as we search for the good in every person we encounter;
- To serve God by loving all God's people, without judgment or backbiting;
- To nurture the faith of all Believers through open and honest study of God's Word, and;
- To work for the freedom from strife and righteousness in the lives of those who are oppressed so that all may know Christ and live in the wonder of His Glory.
Having found our direction; and seeing the need for a Biblically solid Church, Alliance Baptist Church came into being. We have grown in many ways. One of these ways is by the practice of Radical Hospitality and Prayer. Something new is happening in this congregation, we are becoming a community of prayer and a people of Mission, a presence of prayer and voice of hope in the city.
