Are you tired of playing church, are you looking for a real community?
Do you yearn for what the early Christians experienced? Too many disillusioned Christians have settled into the apathy of merely attending church and are missing the importance of building authentic relationships with their brothers and sisters in Christ!
Alliance Baptist Church is committed to challenging the body of Christ to rediscover, from the pages of Scripture, what exactly "church" should look like. Church is not a place! Church is not an event! Church is who we are and how we relate to one another and to God.
Our hope is that you've come to the conclusion that simply attending church is not enough anymore. You are not alone! There are so many of us who truly want to be the church! May what we have to share with you encourage your heart and help you in your journey!
Over the years, our experience as members in the body of Christ has produced a yearning in our hearts for more of what we see recorded in the New Testament. For us, reading about the Church's beginnings in the book of Acts has absolutely stirred our hearts and created a profound desire in us to experience the same things. We have come to the conclusion that we are definitely "tired of people playing church!"
Perhaps you’ve read the book of Acts and found your own heart longing for something more.
"They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone kept feeling a sense of awe; and many wonders and signs were taking place through the apostles. And all those who had believed were together and had all things in common; and they began selling their property and possessions and were sharing them with all, as anyone might have need. Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved." Acts 2:42-47
What these early disciples shared was a meaningful relationship. It was sincere, unselfish and totally wholehearted! It was not the superficial love that most of the world has bought into. There's an investment with that kind of loving that goes much deeper than what we often find even in the body of Christ. It's what we're all longing for. We want the real thing! No more pretense! All we want is genuine love and then we know we'll be satisfied, right?
When Jesus was asked which commandment was the greatest, He replied, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbor as thyself” (Luke 20:27 KJV). Isn't it clear that Christianity is all about relationships?
Our desire to establish a clearer definition of what exactly our relationships are supposed to look like within the Church inspired us to dig into the Word of God. We discovered that the New Testament is bursting at the seams with treasure! (Prov. 2:1-5) A treasure in your life and in the lives of believers around you to "be the Church." We know that nothing that we’ve shared can possibly influence your life more than the Word of God. If your heart agrees with this vision, we trust that you will personally search out the Scriptures to confirm what the lord has said. We know that, as you apply these truths to your heart, they will flow from your life in natural instruction to those around you.
